Since childhood, my passion for martial arts has been deeply ingrained, initially ignited by the captivating performances of icons like Jackie Chan and Jet Li. This fervor led me to embark on various martial arts endeavors over the years.
My journey commenced when my father and step-mother enrolled me in a summer Taekwondo program at a local community center. The experience was invigorating, yet transient, as the classes concluded with the end of summer. Subsequently, I delved into judo through a church program, where I honed my skills for a brief period until financial constraints halted my participation.
Years later, my father surprised my siblings and me with an introduction to Wing Chun Kung Fu. Unaware of what awaited us, that initial class left an indelible mark. Amidst the flurry of drills and exercises, what struck me most was the inclusive community ethos of LHA (the school’s name). Here, there were no hierarchies of belts or rankings; instead, a collective spirit prevailed, fostering an environment where every practitioner was both student and teacher.
Reflecting on nearly a decade since that pivotal day, I remain steadfast in my dedication to Wing Chun. It’s the fusion of strength and equilibrium discovered within this art that continually draws me back to the dojo, reaffirming my commitment to its practice.
Joseph has been part of LHA since 2016. From the outset, he poured his heart and soul into his kung fu practice. Over the years I’ve seen him apply these principles in various aspects of his life, and it has been truly inspiring to witness. I couldn’t be prouder to have him join our leadership team.”
